Song of the week ending 29, August 2008

Kalamuralirava lola mukunda
Kaliveedaakkuka karal govinda

O Mukunda who beautifully plays the flute
Make my heart your play-home

Kavijana kalpana pushpa vimaanam
Karal ithu thaavaka ratna vimaanam
Nirupama sundara vishvakamaanam
Thava natanotsava ranga vidhaanam

The vehicle made of flowers that are the imagination of learned scholars
and my heart is the vehicle made of various stones are used by you O Krishna
Uncomparable and beautiful sky of the world itself is your vehicle
and that is also the place where you play with colors (rainbows)

Oru pidi avalaal anupama bhagyam
Oru thari ilayaal amritha nivedhyam
Thirumizhi neeril nananja nicholam
Pakaruka draupadi maargabhimaanam

It is a great blessing to catch hold of you
A leaf touched by you is the amritha nivedhyam for you
That leaf is wet by the water from your forehead
O Krishna! Give us the same blessing that you granted to Draupadi

Eliyavan ennum kanna nin sakhi
Eliya mulanthanthanupama lahari
Yadukula baalanu peeli thirumudi
Yathikali yathi nee raasa vihaari

Though I am very inferior (young or less-learned) O Krishna but I am your friend
Give me the pure bliss emanating from yourself
I will give the yadukula bala (kid of yadukula) a peacock feather for the same
You are the yathi of all yathis (yathi is one who has total control of his mind) and giver of bliss

This is a song written by Prof. K V Dev who is a devotee of AMMA and a sanskrit scholar. The translation of the song might be wrong at some places as this is in pure malayalam (I haven't learned Malayalam as a language). The original song is sung very beautifully by Swami Amritasvaroopananda. The song has been recorded in my voice which can be found here. Please bear the noise, disturbance and awful chanting as am not a singer.
