Without even blinking her eyes, Radha stood contemplating on the sounds of footsteps
She kept waiting for Kanna to come
Etho vishaada maunam kalli churanja pole
Thaaraka kanmalarum vaadi ninnu
Such a sorrowful silence as if everything has stopped
Radha stood like a dried up flower
Kannan varaanjathorthu thinnam pidanju raadha
Theekanalaazhiyil kaal aazhna pole
Thinking about Kanna not coming, Radha roamed around like a fish in land
This was like putting one's feet into a hot ball of fire
Aro varunna pole dure nizhal anakkam
Radha pidanjenneettu paaravashyam
Far there was some shadow movement as if somebody was coming
Very excited Radha tremblingly stood up immediately
Pele vangam darichu peelinetram mizhichu
Shvaasha thaalam nilacchu nokkininnu
Wearing a yellow dress and having decorated her eyebrows
And holding her breath, Radha looked waiting for Kanna's arrival
Kaalchilambocha kelkke kaattetta poovu pole
Atmaharshonmaadathaal aadi raadha
Hearing the sound of footsteps and like a flower's movement when wind strikes
Radha danced due to intoxication of the Self
Radhe varu varikken etho svaraanubhuthi
Poonthenuravu pole vaarnozhuki
There was a divine sound calling out "my dear Radha come"
Bliss coming out of Radha was like honey flowing
This is a very beautiful song sung in an extraordinary way by Swami Amritasvarupananda. The song is set in partial Abheri and partial Darbari Kanada raga (I might be wrong here). The song speaks about how Radha is waiting anxiously for Kanna's arival. This attitude should be the attitude of a seeker who is anxiously waiting for Ishwara to be established in his heart (which is commonly known as realization). If a seeker gets this attitude of pure love and devotion, then it will not be long before he is ever immersed in eternal bliss. The song has been recorded in my voice which can be found here.
