Song of the week ending 21, November 2008

Amme amritanandamayi
Poorna brahma svarupini
antharyaami sarvavyaapi
anantha desha kaala vasthuni

O Mother Amritanandamayi
Who is of the nature of full Brahman
Which means who is indwelling Self and all-pervasive Brahman
and infinite with respect time, space and causation

Amme amritanandamayi
Satchidaanandamurthi
nityasphurana bhoomaananda
sadaa bhaanam aananda

O Mother Amritanandamayi
Who is of the form of Sat (existence), Chit (Consciousness) and Ananda (Bliss)
Which means who is ever-pulsating and complete and blissful
and always-present, always-shining and always-blissful

Amme amritanandamayi
Aatmaaraamaagragrani
atma kreeda aatma rati
tat svarupam sadaa vasathu

O Mother Amritanandamayi
Who stands at the peak of self-bliss (self-enjoyment or self-rejoicing)
Which means who is ever playing in the Self and ever rejoicing in the Self
and ever abiding in her own nature of Self

Amme amritanandamayi
Turyatunga sthaleejushe
Sarvaavasthaaa vivarjithe
Avasthaatraya saakshi

O Mother Amritanandamayi
Who is stands at the peak-position of Turya (avasthaa)
Which means who is beyond all the avasthaas (states of waking, dream and dreamless deep sleep)
and just a witness of all the three states

This is a song set in Reethigowla raga written and put to tune by me by AMMA's grace. This song speaks about the first four names of AMMA (as found in the 108 names of AMMA). The third and fourth line of each stanza gives a concise explanation of the second line which is the naama. The song has been recorded in my voice which can be found here.
