Song of the week ending 28, November 2008

Prathiloma shakthithan karinizhalmoodi yen hridaya kavaadam adayunnuvo
amme hridaya kavaadam adayunnuvo
Vijaya pratheekshathan chirakkuthalarninnu vilakettathaay theernuvo
janmam vilakettathaay theernuvo

The strong ignorance is starting to veil and thereby the doors of my heart are closing
The expectations of victory (over ignorance) has lost its wings and thereby would my life become useless O Mother?

Paramaartham ariyaathorariventhinu ninte padathaaril anayaatha vaazhventhinu
Udalakam perukunna mathi yenthinu ninte azhakaasvadikkatha mizhi yenthinu

What is the use of knowledge without knowing the ultimate truth?
What is the use of life without surrendering unto your lotus feet?
What is the use of having an intellect/mind which pervades the entire body?
What is the use of having vision without enjoying your beauty (the beauty of blissful mother as the Self)?

Irulaarnoraatma thelivuttuyarnnu nin anavadhya kaanthiyil vilayikkuvaan
Maatru snehathinte amritharashmikalente hridayathil viriyikkumo amme puthuvenma viriyikkumo

The Self which was veiled by darkness of ignorance is struggling to merge unto your flawless glory (Consciousness)
O Mother! Wouldn't the rays of your immortal love fall upon my heart? O Mother! Wouldn't I get a new life (filled with bliss)?

This is a song set in Neelambari Raga. This song is originally sung by Swami Amritasvaroopanda Puri and equally beautifully sung by my father (when my father used to sing with Pranavamritananda puri, Pranava used to ask my father to sing this song). The lyrics of the song is beautiful - it is the cry of a seeker of the truth who wants to surrender unto the divine mother and realize the Self immediately. The song has been recorded in my voice which can be found here.
