Song of the week ending 14, August 2009

Hari hari sri hari charanam sharanam
hari sri hari hari charanam sharanam
Sharanam hari hari sri hari charanam
Hari charanaambhujam anisham sharanam

I seek refuge at the feet of Hari (Vishnu)

Uraga shayanam ulaka paalakan
Pranava payodhadhi valayitha nilayan
Vyaapana sheelan vishnupradhaanan
Kevala chaitanya kedaara bhoothan

One who rides the garuda, controls the entire world, one who churns out the pranava-butter and is sleeping in milk ocean
One who is all-pervasive, prominently called as Vishnu, but is absolute Consciousness I seek refuge at his feet

Niyama rupan nikhilaadharan
Sakala samsaara durithaapahaaran
Anubhavasaara rasaamritha rupan
Nikhila nigamaantha saaraamritha rupan

One who is the controller, the substratum of everything, remover of all sorrows of samsaara
One who is of the form of immortal bliss (rasaamritha) in the form of intuitive experience and the essence of all the scriptures

This is a very beautiful song sung by Swami Pranavamrithananda Puri. The lyrics are simple but the tune is set in Naattai and hence the tune is a bit complex with brigas in most places. This song is a form of naama sankeerthanam that can be used to increase our devotion to Ishwara. In some places, the brigas are missing in this recording - pardon the same. The song sung in my voice can be found here.
