Song of the week ending 23, October 2009

Karunaardra maanasan kadanaarthi naashakan
Kamaneeya vigrahan poyi maranju
Karakaana kadalil ee ezhakkal veezhuvaan
aparaadham enthinnu cheythu shaure

One filled with compassion in his mind, one who destroys desire etc. from the mind and one with a very beautiful form -- has he vanished?
O Krishna! What sin/mistake have we committed that you have left us in this shore-less ocean of samsaara?

Oru naalum piriyilla pranayaakulekshanan
Eri theeyil namme eriyukilla
Sakalathum avanaayittadiyara vecchallo
Sharanagatharkavan thunai allayo

Krishna is never away from us (our very Self) and hence he will not throw us into this fire
Everything is ordained and setup by him therefore isn't he the refuge for surrendering people?

Orupole kannadacheedilla maadhavan
Karayaathirikkilla namme orthe
Muraliyil madhuraaga madhuthookumaasakan
Katinanaakaan ottum vazhiyumilla

He hasn't even closed his eyes once (even when we are sleeping, he is awake as the Self) therefore he wouldn't have been without shedding tears for us
It cannot be that he is cold-hearted as he plays beautiful tunes in the flute and attracting people

Karunaanidhe raadha praanan dharippatho
thava darshanaarthamaanorthidane
Oru nottam oruhaasam nalkane athinaayi
oru kodi janmangal thapam irikkaam

O Krishna! Remember that Radha gives up her life for the sake of your darshan
Give me just one vision and one smile - for this I will do tapas for one crores of lives

This is a very beautiful old bhajan of AMMA where the devotee yearns for Krishna to give darshan and consoles himself saying that Krishna is always there but the mind has to grasp through devotion and surrender. The song sung in my voice can be found here
